Toby is a Director in our 33 strong Employer’s Agent team, based in our Beckenham office.

Toby joined Potter Raper in early 2020, with over 25 years of extensive experience delivering complex residential and mixed-use developments for both private developers, and on behalf of clients. Project sizes have ranged from 50 units to multi-phased schemes of over 1,700 units. Residential unit tenure types include private, affordable, PRS, student, later living and extra care. A wide range of associated space use classifications including commercial, community use, education, cinemas, hotels and manufacturing, all contracted through a broad range of procurement routes.

As lead Employer’s Agent and Joint Venture Supervisor for LLPs whilst at Potter Raper, Toby has undertaken extensive pre-contract work to contract and recent projects such as Vulcan Wharf in Stratford (LLP joint venture development comprising 457 mixed tenure units in a multi-tower development over an extensive commercial space), Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow (359 affordable unit joint venture multi-phase development with complex enabling works required to unlock the development of the site), Glengall Road, Southwark (170 mixed tenure units on complex compact site, including retention and incorporation of a number of existing warehouse building facades in the design and an existing 12 storey brick chimney), as well as the delivery of the first phase of the 1,200 unit build to rent tenure Cherry Park, Stratford development for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

Before working at Potter Raper, notable projects delivered for clients have included 161 mixed tenure Seward Street development in Clerkenwell which was one of the first joint venture schemes in the affordable housing sector, the development of a multi-award-winning affordable housing scheme atop a new cinema complex in the heart of Walthamstow, and the 600-unit flagship Fish Island urban regeneration scheme in Hackney. Previously as a Developer, Toby also worked on several high-profile large-scale phased residential developments, including the St Georges Wharf, Vauxhall (1,400 units) and Royal Arsenal, Woolwich (1,700 units) developments whilst at the Berkeley Group.

Toby enjoys spending time with his family, with other interests including tennis, cooking, science fiction, poetry and almost anything mechanical.
