With our Colchester office acting as Employer’s Agents on the Blacktiles Lane, Martlesham housing development, Potter Raper joined Hastoe Housing Association and Rose Builders Ltd to welcome over 80 pupils from Martlesham Primary Academy as they visited the construction site, which neighbours the school.
The visit gave the students, aged 4-11, an introduction to health and safety, a talk on the development process, and the excitement of watching a digger, dumper, and forklift in action. Students even had the chance to sit in the machinery, experiencing the construction process up close.
The development is expected to house some of the families and future pupils of the school and will consist of a total of 47 affordable homes, plenty of open space, a new play area, and a 28-space car park for joint use by Martlesham Primary Academy and the Parish Council to enable better access to the adjacent Jubilee play space.
Nicky Silvey, Associate Director at Potter Raper, shares, “It’s important for us to include the community and students in this project. These educational visits are crucial in helping students understand the work involved in building their future homes. We’re proud to be part of a project that not only builds homes but also fosters learning and community involvement.”
