Building Climate Resilience in Our Cities

Future of London has published the final report of the Climate Resilience and Equity project – ‘Resilient Cities: A Fair Response to Climate Change’ – addressing the “existential crisis” facing London following unprecedented temperatures and flooding in recent years.

The report offers practical guidance and inspiring case studies to foster equitable resilience in communities and places. Key actions include:

  • Inclusive community engagement
  • Holistic resilience strategies
  • Equitable resource allocation
  • Cross-sector collaboration
  • Data-driven decisions

The key message: climate action must be inclusive, ensuring no one is left behind. With rising temperatures, flooding, and increasing urban pressure, the built environment sector must deliver sustainable, community-focused solutions.

As project sponsors and steering group representatives, our Director Nicola Tilbury and Head of Sustainability Mitzi Wells have been involved in these discussions and attended the celebration event for ‘Resilient Cities: Responding to Climate Change Fairly’ on 26th February. It was both informative and inspiring.

In October, we also joined Future of London’s Annual Conference on Climate Resilience, where Nicola Tilbury shared strategies for preparing cities like London for extreme weather, focusing on fair treatment and climate equity. Mitzi Wells contributed to an expert panel on ‘Leading on Climate Resilience Using Council-led Development Programmes.’

We are committed to driving sustainable, equitable solutions and fully support the call for inclusive climate action, cross-sector collaboration, and data-driven decisions for a resilient future.

Our continued collaboration with Future of London – through expert panels, mentoring, chairing events, and delivering training – reflects our commitment to a sustainable and resilient future.
