The new Heatherwood Hospital opened its doors to its first patients this morning. This new £98 million NHS hospital in Ascot is sited in woodland and provides six new operating theatres, 48 inpatient beds and 22 day cubicles and is a much needed upgrade on the hospital buildings it replaces.
The hospital, which serves patients across Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey, is for elective care and also provides a new out-patient department offering gynaecology, urology and cardiology services, endoscopy, physiotherapy, phlebotomy, and radiology.
The top floor of the hospital includes in-patient beds, which have been arranged to maximise outward facing views of the surrounding landscape and to celebrate the woodland setting views of the treetops and surrounding flora and fauna.
Potter Raper were the NEC Project Managers for this scheme and are delighted to see the hospital provide much needed support to their patients.
