Heatherwood Hospital Topping Out Ceremony

A Topping Out Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the main structure of Heatherwood Hospital was held in February. Potter Raper joined contractors, consultants and members of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, in celebrating this milestone.

A symbolic brick was laid at the top of the new building and Martin Reilly presented Frimley Health Chief Executive Neil Dardis with an engraved trowel.

Neil Dardis said: “Our board gave the green light just a year ago and it is remarkable how much progress has been made since then. Kier are doing a fantastic job. It is so exciting to reach this milestone and to have the completion of the new hospital in sight. It will be among the best facilities of its kind in the NHS and we will finally have the facilities that our fantastic Heatherwood teams and the patients they care for deserve.”

This new 4-storey building is situated in woodland adjacent to the hospital buildings it is due to replace. It will provide first-class patient and diagnostic facilities for cardiology, radiology, lithotripsy, physiotherapy and orthodontics, and will include 48 in-patient beds, 6 operating theatres, procedure rooms, oral maxillofacial surgery, along with new out-patient department.

Within ten years, the aim for this hospital is to provide services for approximately 168,000 people each year; double what the existing hospital provides.

Potter Raper are Project Managers on this project and look forward to steering it to a successful completion; to provide the necessary facilities needed for the ever-expanding NHS.
