Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing have secured planning permission by Barnet Council to regenerate the Westhorpe Gardens and Mills Grove Estate.
The project comprises the delivery of a large-scale estate regeneration to provide more than 250 homes of mixed tenure. More than 100 existing social houses will be replaced with brand new ones and around 150 new homes will be delivered for affordable rent, shared ownership and retirement living, with associated ancillary uses.
In November last year, residents of the north London estate voted in favour of the housing association’s redevelopment proposals – in the first ballot of its kind under rules introduced by the Mayor of London.
The comprehensive regeneration will consist of 8 blocks and 2 rows of terraced housing, accompanied by extensive landscape coverage to provide play areas and informal breakout spaces.
The project will be phased to facilitate the decanting of existing residents with minimal disruption and to enable the demolition of the existing blocks.
We look forward to continuing to work with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing on such an exciting scheme; acting as the Employer’s Agents, Principal Designers and Cost Consultants.
