Constructed on the site of Old Cattle Market, works were adjacent to the HS1 Network and subject to a BAPA.
The project houses a six-screen cinema complex, a 58-bed hotel, restaurants, cafes and retail outlets. Elwick Place has created a new landmark in the town centre, designed by RIBA award-winning London and Kent architects Guy Hollaway Architects, with a striking curved structure clad in a gold coloured, aluminium mesh.
A Joint venture (Stanhope Plc & Lendlease) with funding provided by Ashford Borough Council, Potter Raper provided Fund Monitoring Services including Risk Management along with a review of project costings and Developers Appraisal.
‘In creating the new cultural centre of Elwick Place, Potter Raper provided pro-active risk advice to the Council throughout the development process. Their input allowed us to minimise our exposure to financial, legal, compliance and reputational risk. In the delivery of a key-council, strategic project, their input was an essential part of the delivery team.’ – Paul McKenner, Head of Corporate Property and Projects; Ashford Borough Council
