The new conference centre forms part of ESA’s European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT) and serves as a focal point to promote space-based collaboration and innovation, hosting events that highlight to a global audience the role of space activities in the UK, Europe and across the world.

The centre provides cutting edge, adaptable meeting facilities, including a conference hall for 300 people that can be sub-divided into smaller rooms and two meeting rooms for 25 people. Other facilities including break-out areas, exhibition space, dedicated rooms for interpreters and catering facilities.

The new building is of lightweight steel-frame construction and consists of two main sections, the main Conference Hall block and the Ancillary block containing café and break-out areas. The external envelope is heavily insulated to meet thermal and acoustic requirements. The external finish is a mix of aluminium, brick and glazed curtain wall construction.
