Mulberry Academy London Dock

Gosset Street, Bethnal Green

A new 6 form entry secondary school on a brownfield site.

The site constrictions required that the car parking, services, sports hall and games space are located in double basements.

Our Services: Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Agent, Clerk of Works, Party Wall Surveyor
Client: London Borough of Tower Hamlets
Contract Value: £68m
Contract Period: 2 year 2 months
Contract Type: JCT Design & Build Contract 2016

The project has a number of challenges being built on an extremely restricted site, adjacent to a very busy road.

To accommodate all facilities required by a modern secondary school, it has been necessary to build double basements and create accessible spaces on the roofs as break out spaces.

To counter the problems of pollution, the school is being built to Passivhaus standards; all the air is filtered and cleaned, as well as ensuring the building is highly energy efficient.
