Works to form new exhibition area and structural works to form opening
GC/Works/1 Single Stage Design & Build 1998
Works to the Grade I Listed Wilkins Building to form a new exhibition gallery within the Octagon on the ground floor providing a new focal point for the whole building.
The circular opening over the Octagon area was reopened, which involved the installation of new structural glazing, balustrading and seating, together with the relocation of the existing statue of St Michael.
The works also included the refurbishment to the Jeremy Bentham Room, adjacent to the Octagon, and existing joinery bench seating in the cloisters leading to the Octagon.
