Potter Raper recently attended the opening of the final sound stage to be completed at Sky Studios Elstree, a new state-of-the-art film and TV studio in Hertfordshire. The stage was officially opened by the former Earl of Wessex, Patron of the Production Guild of Great Britain on 9th March, who toured the site and met with local charity partners and young talent.
During the tour, His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque on Stage 5 to commemorate the largest brand-new studio facility to open in the UK for decades. The imminent completion of the site, which will house 13 sound stages, is expected to generate an additional £3 billion of production investment in the UK creative sector in the first five years alone.
Sky Studios Chief Executive Officer, Cécile Frot-Coutaz said “Sky Studios Elstree will create thousands of jobs and will boost the UK’s creative industry at a time when it is needed most. It will become the new creative home for bold and unmissable Sky Original series as well as Hollywood blockbusters from NBCUniversal. The opening of this final stage signals the near completion of the site, and we’re delighted to have His Royal Highness join us.”
The studio also has some of the most ambitious sustainability goals in the world and is in line with Sky’s overall ambition to be net zero carbon by 2030.
We are proud to have been involved in such a prestigious project, acting as the Project Manager, Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyor, and Principal Designer. It has been a pleasure to work on this development and to be a part of the team bringing Sky Studios Elstree to life. The completion of the final sound stage is a significant achievement for the UK’s film and TV industry, and we are thrilled to have played a role in its success. We look forward to seeing the impact that this state-of-the-art facility will have on the creative sector and the economy.
